Rio de Janeiro: The fourth day of the ongoing Rio Olympics has brought some hope for the Indians as athlete Atanu Das cruised into the third round of men’s individual archery event.

Das has made it to the quarter finals after beating Cuba’s Adrian Puentes Perez by 6-4. His opponent in the third round is yet to be determined.

Atanu won the first two sets 28-26 and 29-26 of the thrilling match. Perez made a return to the match in the third round and in the fourth set Atanu confirmed his victory.

Earlier in the day, Atanu easily beat Nepalese opponent Jitbahadur Muktan 6-0 in the first round of the individual round to progress forward in the men’s event at the mega games.

It may be mentioned that Indian men’s hockey team on Tuesday crushed Argentina in the preliminaries and reached the quarter finals.
