Assam Flood: Situation worsens, Rajnath announces compensation

New Delhi: Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Saturday announced a compensation of Rs 4 lakh to the victims of flood in Assam after conducting an aerial survey.

“The state government will give a compensation of Rs 4 lakh to the people affected by floods in Assam,” said Rajnath in a press conference.

Rajnath, earlier, had taken stock of Kaziranga, Nagaon , Morigaon, and some other t worst-affected areas in Assam.

“Team of National Disaster Relief Forces and State Disaster Relief Force are on the job and around 60 boats have been deployed for rescue operations. The situation is 'grim', and" I appeal the citizens and NGO’s of India to come forward,” Rajnath added.

The Home Minister applauded the efforts of newly formed Sonowal government in Assam.

As many as twenty six people have lost their lives and nearly 36 lakh have been affected across more than 3,300 villages in 28 districts in the state.
