Lucknow: The Apna Dal faction led by Krishna Patel, mother of Anupriya Patel who was inducted into the Union council of ministerson Tuesday, has decided to withdraw support from the ruling National Democratic Alliance at the Centre .

An announcement to this effect was made by Krishna herself at a press meet here on Wednesday.

She was not happy with her daughter’s selection as Union minister and she had made her displeasure known soon after Anupriya’s swearing-in. “ The one who does not do any good to mother, what good she can do to the country’ she had said.

Krishna said that she had thrown out her daughter from the party way back in 2015. As such, she is not an MP from Apna Dal. The two had parted ways in 2014 during Lok Sabha election.

The announcement is unlikely to affect the NDA much as this faction does not hold sway among the Kurmi caste, the Dal’s main support base.
