To take care of a lot in the party, Amit Shah arrives in city

Lucknow: Bharatiya Janata party President Amit Shah was received by Uttar Pradesh Women Welfare minister Swati Singh on his arrival at the city on Saturday.

The BJP chief is on a three-day visit to Lucknow during which he will hold several meetings with various party units and workers.

A lot on Shah's platter:

  • "On July 29, the party president will interact with party office bearers from Awadh, Kashi, Gorakhpur and Kanpur regions. He will also interact with various district presidents and district in-charges," UP BJP spokesperson said.
  • Apart from drawing strategy for the 2019 polls, another important task for Shah is also to look for a new state president of the party to relieve Maurya as he is holding another important post, that of the deputy CM, now.
  • He would also work out the strategies to retain the two Lok Sabha seats where by-election has to be held, but also ensure a safe passage for CM Aditya Nath Yogi and his four ministers to the state assembly or council before the mandatory six-month deadline gets over.
  • He will also address a meeting of intellectuals at Scientific Convention centre on Sunday.

"The kendra will commence functioning as usual from August 1," UP BJP media in-charge Harish Chandra Srivastava said.
