Amarnath Yatra restarts in Jammu post 2 days suspension

Srinagar: Being suspended for two days, Amarnath yatra resumed from Jammu under tight security forces from Monday evenings.

Following the encounter killing of Hizbul Mujahideen poster boy Burhan Wani, the unruly mob initiated protest against Indian Army and local police, in which about 31 civilians including a police driver have lost their lives.

Deputy Commissioner, Jammu, Simrandeep Singh said-

  • Amarnath yatra has resumed from Monday evenings.
  • A batch of 3500 pilgrims left from Bagwatinagar base camp for Baltal and Pahalgam.

With the progression of violence in the Kashmir valley, Amarnath yatra was suspended on July 9.

Chanting 'bum bum bolay and har har mahadev', pilgrims have yet again started their yatra.
