Gorakhpur: Ridiculing the nomination of Amar Singh to Rajya Sabha by the Samajwadi Party, the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) Member of Parliament (MP) from Gorakhpur constituency Yogi Adityanath has said the former has boarded a sinking ship.

“It is beyond doubt that the Samajawadi Party government is on its way out in Uttar Pradesh and Amar Singh has taken shelter in this party at the wrong time,” said the firebrand MP in a statement on Tuesday.

What else Adityanath said:

  • He accused SP of igniting the recent communal violence in Azamgarh district of Uttar Pradesh.
  • The MP said he will visit Azamgarh to defend the Hindu community, if the violence continues.
  • He held SP accountable for more than 400 incidents of riots and communal tension during its rule in the state.
  • He had also alleged that most of the SP’s ministers belong to criminal backgrounds and they misuse their power.
