Allahabad High Court makes DND Flyway toll free
Noida: In a major relief to commuters, the Allahahad High Court on Wednesday declared the Delhi Noida Toll Bridge (DND Flyway) as free. The flyway connects Delhi on the west bank of the Yamuna with Noida and East Delhi.
Court's verdict came over a public interest litigation (PIL) that was filed by the Federation of Noida Resident Welfare Association (FONRWA) four years ago.
What the FONRWA President, NP Singh said?
- This is a victory of people.
- The money in form of toll shouldn't have been collected.
- The Federation may even file a caveat with the Supreme Court.
- It is anticipated that Noida Toll Bridge Company (NTBCL) may move SC to challenge the Allahabad HC's ruling.
About the NTBCL:
Infrastructure Leasing and Financial Services (IL&FS) had promoted NTBCL to construct, operate and maintain the 9.2 KM eight-lane expressway on a "build own operate transfer" (BOOT) basis till 2031.
