Akhilesh Yadav elected president of Samajwadi Party for next 5 years

Maharajganj: In a repartee to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's electricity remark, the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav on Sunday said that his government had supplied more electricity on Diwali than Ramzan.

Addressing a rally at Maharajganj in Uttar Pradesh, Akhilesh said that PM Modi should first swear on "Ganga Maiya" and then say whether people in Varanasi get 24 hours electricity or not.

It may be mentioned that Modi had on February 19 attacked the Akhilesh government by saying, "If electricity is supplied during Ramazan, it should be supplied during Diwali also. There should not be any discrimination."

Attacking further, Akhilesh said that the Centre's demonetisation move brought country on back foot with PM making people unwillingly stand in bank and ATM lines.

Taking a jibe at the Bahujan Samaj Party Supremo Mayawati, the SP Chief said, "When Mayawati reads her speech during election campaign, people sleep in front of her."

It may be mentioned that voting in Maharajganj will take place in the sixth phase of UP Assembly polls on March 4.
