UP Govt suspends top cops in Bulandshahr gang-rape case

Bulandshahr/Lucknow: Taking stern action in the gang-rape of woman and her daughter on National Highway 91, the Uttar Pradesh government on Sunday suspended several top police officers of Bulandshahr.

Those suspended include SSP Bulandshahr Vaibhav Kishan, SP city Rammohan Singh, circle officer (Sadar) Himanshu Gaurav and SHO Ramsen Singh of Kotwali Dehat ans Sub Inspector, Pramod Kumar, incharge Police Station (Highway).

The suspension order was issued in Lucknow soon after Principal Secretary Debasish Panda and Director General of Police (DGP) Javeed Ahmad left Bulandshahr after inspecting the spot of incident.

"The three accused have already been identified and they will be arrested soon," said the DGP.

The mass suspension is being deemed as the first instance in which strict action has been taken by the Samajwadi Party government in such a case.

CM has also instructed officials to take immediate and necessary steps to ensure strengthening of high patrolling.

Earlier, Akhilesh Yadav had given 24-hour time to Bulandshahr police to take action against the culprits of the gang-rape case of a mother and daughter.

Akhilesh had issued the instructions to UP Director General of Police (DGP) Javeed Ahmad to get the accused arrested and unveil the case within the given deadline.

Directives were also issued to the Principal Secretary Home, to monitor the situation personally from ground level and provide justice to the victim family. Adding, rigorous punishment should be given to the accused so that such crimes are not repeated in the future.

Police identifies the main accused of Bulandshahr gangrape case

  • A mother and her daughter on Friday night were dragged out of their car and gangraped by a group of five men near national highway 91.
  • Accused have waylaid their car while the family was on its way to Noida.
  • The men of victim family were tied with the rope.
  • Accused managed to flee away after robbing their cash, jewellery, mobile and other valuables.
  • The police complaint in this regard was registered on Saturday morning.
  • The police, so far, have detained 15 suspects and have claimed to have identified the main accused.
