Kashmir unrest: Youth dies at Srinagar hospital, toll rises to 83

Srinagar: The death toll in the ongoing Kashmir unrest has risen to 83 as a youth injured during the clashes died at an area hospital on Saturday.

“Muzaffar Ahmad Pandith was injured being hit by pellets during clashes between the protesting civilians and security forces at Chek-e-Kawoosa of Bugdam district’s Narbal locality in the mid of September last,” said a senior police official.

After a few days of treatment following his injuries, Pandith was discharged from Shri Maharaja Hari Singh (SMHS) Hospital but later, admitted to Sher-I-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) owing to severe infections caused by his wounds. Eventually, he breathed his last at the SKIMS hospital in Srinagar’s Soura locality.
