What is Himachal's cannabis cultivation bill, which will be presented in the assembly soon

The politics of Himachal Pradesh is hot. The state government is planning to legalize the cultivation of cannabis. The state government claims that it can be legalized for medicinal use. For this, a bill has been prepared by the government. A committee was formed on April 26, 2023 under the chairmanship of the Revenue Minister. State government minister Vikramaditya Singh has announced that a bill will be introduced soon regarding this. He says that this will help in strengthening the economy.

The committee formed by the Himachal government had visited Kangra, Chamba, Mandi, Kullu, Solan and Sirmaur districts and also contacted many states. The committee has found that the state will get revenue from its cultivation. The minister has also claimed that the state's excise policy will benefit.

Himachal Pradesh is going through an economic crisis in recent times. State Minister Vikramaditya Singh has claimed that if the government orders its cultivation legally, it can prove to be a game changer for the state's economy. He said that we should think seriously. There is a need to avoid taunting.

Cannabis cultivation has been considered illegal in India for the last 40 years. However, people have been cultivating it illegally in many states including Himachal. Jai Ram Thakur's government in Himachal also announced to legalize it in 2018. The government claims that the state earns about Rs 500 crore from this. 1985- Cannabis cultivation was declared a crime in India.

Cannabis is seen as an intoxicant. However, cannabis plays an important role in Ayurvedic medicine and is used in the treatment of various diseases including nausea, vomiting and physical pain. It is believed that it works as an immunity booster. This strengthens the body's immunity. Not only this, it also helps in reducing cholesterol. It controls high blood pressure. It can be effective in providing relief in arthritis and getting rid of skin related diseases.
