Western Railways installs PET machine in Mumbai Rajdhani Express
For the very first time in the history,PET machine is been installed in any train. Machine was installed in the train as the part of swachch Bharat Abhiyan and Go Green mission which is imposed by the center to diminish single-use plastic from India.
Mumbai: In an eco-friendly bid, the Western Railway has installed a PET( Polyethylene Terephthalate) bottle crushing machine in Mumbai Rajdhani Express.

Mumbai Rajdhani is a super fast train that runs between Mumbai Central and New Delhi.

This PET machine can crush upto 3000 bottles per day and is capable of recycling 90% of PET waste. Moreover, this machine can accept all types of bottles from 200ml to 2.5 litres. It has capacity of approx 20 litres of storage bin that is eqivalent of 1500 bottles.
The move by installing PET machine is expected to reduce carbon footprints by 100% recycling and will also avoid littering in landfills from plastic waste.
