Weather Updates: No relief in winter season; IMD issues rain alert

New Delhi: After snowfall in the mountains, winter and cold wave continues to wreak havoc in many states of the country. In the coming days, there will be a freezing cold. The country's capital recorded a minimum temperature of 3.9 degrees Celsius on Saturday, while Srinagar had the lowest temperature this season.

Temperature below zero degree:

IMD has forecast cold wave conditions in many states including Delhi and Uttar Pradesh on Sunday, while there is a possibility of rain in Chennai.

The Meteorological Department has said that the temperature in Leh on Sunday may go down to a few degrees below zero. The Meteorological Department informed that cold wave is going on in Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Uttarakhand, Western Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh.

According to this, dense fog will occur at many places in Punjab, Eastern Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Himalayan region of West Bengal, Meghalaya and Tripura.

Rain alert during winters:

The Meteorological Department gave its forecast from 17 to 24 and 24 to 30 December. The Meteorological Department has said that the minimum temperature will be 2-6 degrees Celsius. Below normal in most areas of northwest, central and eastern India. During the first week, temperatures in the rest of the country may remain near or slightly above normal.

IMD said that in the beginning of the first week, cold wave will increase and then decrease in Punjab. Then in Haryana and Chandigarh, West Uttar Pradesh and North Rajasthan. The Meteorological Department said that in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi. North Rajasthan and Northwest Uttar Pradesh, two days of freezing cold will occur.

The Meteorological Department has said that day and night temperatures in the plains of North India are staying below normal. During the second week, a slight increase in the minimum temperature has been recorded as compared to the first week. The IMD said that in most parts of northwest, central and eastern India, the minimum temperature will be 2-4 degrees Celsius. Below normal and in the rest of the country it will go close to or slightly above normal.
