Weather Update: Snowfall in Himachal Pradesh, IMD issues Yellow Alert

New Delhi: It is raining and snowing in Himachal Pradesh on Sunday amid Yellow Alert. The higher peaks of Manali, including the Rohtang Pass, received snow while the lower areas received rain. Rohtang Pass has received 30 cm, Atal Tunnel North Portal 5 cm, Sisu 5 cm, Gondhala 10 cm, Koksar 12 cm, Baralacha 30 cm, Keylong 4 cm fresh snowfall.

Snowfall in Himachal Pradesh:

Rain continues in Shimla, Hamirpur, Kangra and other districts. After the snowfall, the movement of vehicles through Atal Tunnel Rohtang has been stopped for the time being. All permits for Rohtang have been cancelled. In view of the weather forecast, common citizens and tourists have been urged not to go towards areas with high altitude and low temperature.

In case of natural calamity or incident, inform the District Disaster Management Operation Center and toll free number 1077. The weather has turned cold after snowfall and rain. People are hiding in their homes since morning.

IMD issues Yellow Alert:

SP Lahaul-Spiti Manav Verma said that there will be a ban on the movement of tourists in Lahaul till the weather gets better. Locals have been urged to avoid unnecessary travel.

Chamba's Pangi, Sural Bhatori, Hudan, Chask, Kumar Bhatori and Sach Pass have received eight to ten inches of fresh snowfall. Two trackers missing from Harshil in Uttarkashi to Lamkhaga pass of Chitkul in Kinnaur district are yet to be traced.

The rescue operation could not be carried out on Sunday due to bad weather. It may be noted that out of 11 trackers, the bodies of seven were found, while two were rescued safely.
