Weather Update: IMD issues rain alert in many States including Delhi, UP, Himachal

The IMD has predicted heavy rain at isolated places in Delhi on Sunday afternoon and evening.

New Delhi: Monsoon has now reached most parts of the country. Due to monsoon, there is heavy rain in the mountains. Intermittent rain is also being seen in the plains.

The weather remained warm over most of the plains of North India on Saturday except light to moderate rains in some parts of Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan.

Rain in Himachal, Delhi, UP:

However, there is a possibility of heavy rain here in the next few days. The mercury remained a few degrees above normal in Delhi, Punjab and Haryana on Saturday. There is a possibility of heavy rain in Delhi, UP Himachal Pradesh in the next three-four days.


IMD issues rain alert:

Delhi's maximum temperature on Saturday was recorded at 38.8 degrees Celsius, four notches above normal. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy rain at isolated places in Delhi on Sunday afternoon and evening.

Most parts of Delhi are likely to see mainly cloudy sky with rain and thundershowers with maximum and minimum temperatures expected to hover around 35 and 27 degrees Celsius, respectively.

July started with a maximum temperature of 40.4 degrees in UP. On Saturday, people got relief from the scorching heat amid the ups and downs in the weather. The weather remained mild since morning and by noon it started drizzling. Light rain amidst strong sunlight and humidity reduced the temperature of the rising mercury somewhat. The Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rain in the capital on Sunday.

Rain in Himachal Pradesh:

The weather station in Shimla said that from Saturday, the speed of rain will increase in Himachal Pradesh and in the next three to four days, there will be moderate to heavy rains in the lower and central hills. The weather center warned that due to the forecasted weather conditions, there could be landslides on the national and state highways and flood-like situation in low-lying areas.
