Monsoon 2021:

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a 'Red Alert' for Mumbai, Thane, Palghar, Raigad, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg districts and for Pune, Satara and Kolhapur for extremely heavy rainfall in the next 24 hours. It also issued an 'orange alert' for these districts from July 20 to July 23. There is a possibility of heavy rain and light to moderate rain at isolated places over the rest of the state in the next five days.

The IMD said that in North Delhi, moderate rain is expected to continue till Tuesday with heavy to very heavy falls at isolated places. It rained incessantly in Delhi last night. 70 mm of rain was recorded till 8.30 am, causing waterlogging in many parts of the city.

The Meteorological Department has issued an advisory regarding slippery roads and disruption of traffic due to rain accompanied by thunder. It also issued a warning for partial damage to plantations, horticulture, standing crops, weak structures, mud houses and huts due to rain and strong winds.

The department said that due to moderate to heavy rains, there could be intermittent drop in visibility and waterlogging in low-lying areas. He advised people to stay indoors, keep windows and doors closed and not take shelter under trees.
