Weather Update: IMD forecasts rain in Jammu-Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand
From Gilgit, Baltistan and Muzaffarabad on the mountains of North India to Ladakh, Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand, there is a possibility of widespread rain at all these places.
New Delhi: A new and dominant Western Disturbance has knocked over the mountains of North India. According to the India Meteorological Department, the effect of this disturbance will be seen on a wide scale today i.e. on February 22. The circulation which is going to be formed due to the effect of this system will form over northern parts of Rajasthan and adjoining central Pakistan on Tuesday.

Also, a trough is forming between Gujarat and Odisha. However, winds will reach from the Bay of Bengal side via East Uttar Pradesh. There is going to be a change in the direction of the wind in UP. Talking about Northeast India, there is a circulation in Bangladesh and its adjoining parts, due to which the northeastern states are witnessing seasonal activity.
From Gilgit, Baltistan and Muzaffarabad on the mountains of North India to Ladakh, Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand, there is a possibility of widespread rain at all these places. Snowfall may also occur at many places in these areas. Rain is also expected in adjoining areas including Srinagar, Gulmarg, Kulgam, Qazigund, Pahalgam, Katra Udhampur, Jammu.
In Himachal Pradesh, there is a possibility of rain and snow at all places including Shimla, Dharamsala, Chamba, Una to Kullu Manali, Lahaul Spiti. In Uttarakhand, from Chamoli, Gangotri, Yamunotri to Kedarnath, Badrinath, Joshimath, Uttarkashi including Almora, Pithoragarh, and if we walk in low-lying areas, then from Nainital to Dehradun, Hrishikesh, Haridwar, there is a possibility of rain in all these areas. There will be snowfall in the higher reaches and rain in the lower parts.
Light rain in Punjab:
Similarly, according to the Meteorological Department (IMD), there is a possibility of rain in the plains of Punjab, northern parts of Haryana including Panchkula, Ambala, Karnal, Kurukshetra, as well as Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Jalandhar, Pathankot etc. However, cloudy weather is likely over Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and West Uttar Pradesh and northern parts of Rajasthan. Rajasthan covers the entire area from Churu, Ganganagar, Hanumangarh to Jaipur.
There is a possibility of rain in Delhi but clouds will definitely be seen. Similarly, clouds will be visible in western Uttar Pradesh too, but the chances of rain here are very less at present. In Agra, Aligarh, Mathura, Hathras, Etah, Etawah, Mainpuri, Pilibhit and Bareilly, some clouds will definitely be visible in all these parts.
