New Delhi: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Wednesday that from December to February, there is a possibility of above normal rainfall in Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema, South-Interior Karnataka Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Kerala.

IMD issues Rain Alert:

The IMD said that there is a possibility of below normal rain in Northwest India. Therefore, the average temperature here is expected to be above normal. On the other hand, the temperature is likely to remain normal in Punjab, Haryana and West Rajasthan.

The Meteorological Department further said that it is difficult to tell whether the temperature in East and West Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, East Rajasthan and Gujarat will be above or below normal, but the maximum temperature will be below normal. expected to stay.

The IMD said that in most parts of South and Northeast India and in some areas adjoining the foothills of the Himalayas, the minimum temperature may remain normal or above in the coming winter season.


According to the IMD, in the months of October and November, northwest India received 107 per cent more rainfall, the southern peninsula received 71 per cent and the entire country received 48 per cent more rainfall. The country received 645 heavy rains in the month of November and 168 very heavy rains, which is the highest in this month in the last five years (Rainfall in November). This month saw 11 extremely heavy rains (over 204.4 mm), which is the same as last year's figure. According to IMD data, the country received 645 heavy rains (64.5 mm to 115.5 mm) and 168 heavy rains (115.6 mm to 204.5 mm) in the month of November, which is the highest in the last five years.

Rain in Andhra Pradesh:

Peninsular India received heavy to very heavy rains, due to which 44 people died in Andhra Pradesh, 16 in Tamil Nadu, 15 in Karnataka and three in Kerala. The Meteorological Department said that in November the normal rainfall was 56.5 mm as compared to 30.5 mm, i.e. 85.4 percent more rain. Peninsular India received 160 percent more rainfall (232.7 mm).
