Veteran CPI (M) leader Nirupam Sen passes away

Nirupam Sen, senior leader of Communist Party of India (Marxist) lost after a prolonged illness. Sen was 72 and passed away at 0510 hours following cardiac arrest.

Kolkata: Nirupam Sen, senior leader of Communist Party of India (Marxist) lost after a prolonged illness. Sen was 72 and passed away at 0510 hours following cardiac arrest.

He was survived by wife, a son and a daughter.

The body will be kept in a mortuary during the day and the final rites will be performed on Wednesday in Bardhaman, his hometown.

The body will also be taken to CPI(M) party headquarters and CITU office on Wednesday.

The party said, "On Wednesday, Sen’s body will be taken to the CITU office here. After that it will be taken to the party’s state headquarters where people will be allowed to pay their last respects."
