Monsoon (PC- Social Media)

The IMD has issued a serious monsoon alert for July 4. About 50 districts are expecting heavy to very heavy rain. Meanwhile, all 75 districts of Uttar Pradesh are under some form of weather alert—ranging from heavy showers to strong winds and lightning. It’s a big monsoon day.

Districts That Will See Heavy Rain

Central UP and Bundelkhand regions are in focus today. Districts like Jhansi, Lalitpur, Hamirpur, Mahoba, Banda, Kaushambi, Chitrakoot, Prayagraj, Mirzapur, Varanasi, Chandauli, Sonbhadra, and more will likely get significant downpours. This means delays in road travel, wet fields, and possibly isolated flooding.

Storm Alerts Cover Nearly the Entire State

Along with rain, 75 districts are on alert for thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds . Affected areas include Saharanpur, Muzaffarnagar, Meerut, Ghaziabad, Noida, Agra, Mathura, Kanpur, Rae Bareli, Jaunpur, Ghazipur, and many more. Expect sudden wind gusts and lightning during the day.

Monsoon’s Recent Strength

The monsoon has regained its vigor across UP. Widespread showers brought measurable rain to most districts, easing heat and humidity. Yesterday, heavy rainfall dropped the temperature by 2–4°C, making the weather more bearable .

Why It Is Happening

A robust low-pressure system and monsoon trough over central India are pulling moist air into UP. This is causing cloud buildup, heavy showers, and stormy spells. The IMD forecasts this wet pattern will last into the weekend.

How This Affects You Today

  • Roads may flood in low-lying areas; drive cautiously.

  • Power outages are possible during storms.

  • Farm fields need protection, especially young crops.

  • Outdoor plans may need to be fixed indoors or postponed.

How to Stay Safe in Rain and Storm

  1. Stay indoors when thunderstorms hit.

  2. Secure outdoor items—don’t let sheets or pots fly away.

  3. Clear gutters and drains to prevent water buildup.

  4. Unplug electronics during lightning.

  5. Avoid open spaces or tall trees when in the storm.

When Will the Rain Ease

The IMD expects heavy rain and storms to continue through July 6, with scattered showers lasting till July 8 . You may see a cool weather break after that, but showers will still pop up occasionally.

Good News for Farmers

Though rain can cause delays, it also helps fill soil moisture and recharge water tables—great for crops like rice, maize, and sugarcane. Farmers should manage field drainage carefully.

Daily Life Tips During Monsoon

  • Keep umbrella or raincoat handy.

  • Carry waterproof footwear in prone areas.

  • Use digital banking to avoid going out.

  • Check road closures or alerts before commuting.

  • Monitor kids during outdoor activities—they might slip on wet ground.
