Farrukhabad (UP): The matter came into existense when a man kidnapped over 20 kids in a house and locked his house from inside. After struggle of almost 11 hours this high voltage drama ended.

According to the police statement these 23 children, aged between six months and 15 years, were rescued after an armed man, a murder accused who took them hostage after inviting them for a birthday party at his house in a village here, was killed on Thursday night.

The hostage drama began at Kasaria village in the afternoon. Hours later, the accused released a six-month-old girl by handing her over to his neighbour from a balcony, they said.

UP Additional Secretary Awanish Kumar Awasthi confirmed that Subash Batham who was accused of a murder case had been killed in an encounter and that all children were rescued safely.

Around 1 am on Friday, with help of the locals armed force broke the front door and entered in Batham's house. When police entered his house, they fired on Batham in defence.
