Uber plans to add e-Rickshaw to platform; Starts with 100 vehicles in Delhi

New Delhi: Uber, an app-based taxi service company, will now travel on e-rickshaws to passengers. The company has added 100 e-rickshaws to its platform in Delhi. In this way, Delhi has become the first city, where Uber is going to provide e-rickshaw service.

Uber said in a statement on Tuesday that these vehicles installed at 26 metro stations in Delhi. This will greatly facilitate the passengers. Travelers are also able to book e-rickshaws on Uber app from Tuesday. These e-rickshaws will be available at Blue Line's Ashok Park Main, Dabri Mor, ESI Basaidarpur, Janakpuri East and Uttam Nagar East and other metro stations.

Uber said it has targeted to make its platform 100 per cent emissions free by 2040 globally. The e-rickshaw offering is part of the company's global commitment.

"As millions of Indians begin moving again, Uber aims to make urban commutes more affordable, efficient and eco-friendly, helping cities 'Build back better'. With multimodal service offerings like micromobility and public transit options, all in the Uber app, Delhi residents will now be able to complete their journey seamlessly," the statement said.

"We are delighted to launch e-rickshaws on Uber's platform as an efficient and eco-friendly mobility solution. Which will help riders complete their urban commute seamlessly.
