Alipurduar: As many as 34 people sustained injuries when two coaches of Guwahati-bound Capital Express from Rajendra Nagar Terminal of Bihar derailed in West Bengal on Tuesday night.

The accident took place about 9:00 pm close to Samuktala Road station in Alipurduar district. According to North East Frontier Railway officials, the relief train reached the spot.

Injured were rushed to the nearby hospital. Among the injured, three are critical. “Rescue work is underway,” said Alipurduar DRM Sanjiv Kishore.

Earlier, on November 20, Indore-Patna express was derailed near Kanpur. About 117 people had lost their lives in the mishap.
