Mysuru: A Bengal tiger was found dead due to starvation inside Bandipur Tiger Sanctuary on Saturday.

The tiger aged around nine years had suffered multiple severe wound on its nose and right front limb, said Vet D N Nagaraj. Adding, the limb was fractured and both the canine teeth in lower jaw were damaged.

  • The tiger may have been survived on water for two months.
  • Mud and water was found from the stomach in post-mortem.
  • The carcass was destroyed by burning at Gundre range.
