Three ISIS suspects arrested in joint operation by 6 state police

New Delhi: In a remarkable achievement, the Uttar Pradesh Anti Terrorist Squad (ATS) and Delhi Police special cell, in a joint operation, nabbed three Islamic State (ISIS) suspects under the charges of terror conspiracy.

Apart from arresting the three suspected terrorists from Mumbai, Ludhiana and Bijnor, the police has also busted an inter-state terror module.

The UP ATS and Delhi police teams were on a lookout for the terrorists in Mumbai (Maharashtra), Jalandhar (Punjab), Narkatiaganj (Bihar), Bijnor (Uttar Pradesh) and Muzaffarnagar (Uttar Pradesh).

The ATS sources have claimed that one suspect, who was arrested from Mumbara in Mumbai, is an ISIS recruiter for Maharashtra, and the police has also recovered several SIM cards from his residence.

Apart from UP ATS and Delhi Police special cell, the search operations were carried out by the crime investigation department of Andhra Pradesh Police, Maharashtra ATS, Bihar Police and Punjab Police.

Further investigation is still on and police is also questioning six other people. "Nine people from different locations were held by police, and interrogation is underway," said Uttar Pradesh ADG (law and order) Daljeet Singh Choudhary.

According to the latest information, the three arrested men are suspected to be part of a terror module which was working to form a new organisation in India and was being operated by handlers based in Iraq.
