Prime minister Narendra Modi, who turned 73 on Sunday, has been prime minister of India for the past nine years. During his tenure he has taken several important decisions. While some of his decisions were appreciated, some others came in for criticism also from the opposition parties and others.

Here are 10 most important decision which were taken by the Prime Minister during his tenure so far:

Celebration of International Yoga Day on 21st June was taken in 2014.

Clean India Mission in 2014.

Prime minster Ujjawala Yojna in 2016.

Demonetization in 2016.

Surgical strikes on Balakot in 2016.

Ayushman Bharat Yojna in 2018.

Balakot Air strikes in 2019.

Scrapping Article-370 that pertained to Jammu-Kashmir in 2019.

Making triple talaq a punishable offense in 2019.

Citizenship Amendment Act in 2019.

Demonetization: During the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Narendra Modi had raised the issue of black money and after becoming his Prime Minister, he did it. On November 8, 2016, Modi had announced the demonetization of Rs500 and Rs1000 notes. This decision of the Prime Minister had become the topic of discussion in entire the world.

Surgical strike: On September 18, 2016, terrorists had attacked the Indian Army headquarters in Uri sector of Jammu and Kashmir at around 5:30 am. In this, 19 soldiers were killed, and more than 30 soldiers were injured. Four terrorists were also killed in retaliatory firing. After this, Prime Minister took decision for responding to this attack.

After this, on September 28, 2016, the Indian Army carried out surgical strikes on terrorist bases in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. At midnight, 150 commandos landed near the LoC with MI-17 helicopters. From here, para 25 commandos crossed the LoC and after walking for three kilometers, carried out surgical strikes on the hideouts of the terrorists. With this, again Modi had proved the roar of a tiger.

Air strike: On February 14, 2019, terrorists attacked a CRPF convoy in Pulwama, Jammu and Kashmir. In this, 40 soldiers were martyred. One terrorist was also killed. After the Modi's decision, on 26 February 2019, the Indian Air Force carried out an airstrike in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir in which 300-400 terrorists were killed. Many countries of the world supported this move of India.

Ending of Article-370: This decision was completely shocking for the country and raised so many issues over this when Modi decided to remove Aticle-370 from Jammu-Kashmir.

Citizenship Amendment Act: The Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) was passed by the Parliament on December 11, 2019. It aimed at providing quick citizenship of the country to the persecuted minorities from Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Pakistan who were Hindus.
