Two Indian teachers rescued from Libya: Sushma Swaraj

The teachers were abducted in July 2015 along with their two other colleagues Laxmikant Ramakrishna and Mulbagil Vijay Kumar from Bengaluru. Both the colleagues were rescued within the week of their kidnapping.

Sushma Swaraj arrives in Kathmandu for BIMSTEC meeting

New Delhi: Two Indian teachers, T Gopalakrishna and C Balramkishan, who were abducted in Libya by the Islamic state terror Group last year have been rescued, posted External Affairs Minister, Sushma Swaraj on her official twitter handle.

Swaraj tweeted," I am happy to inform that T Gopalakrishna(AP) and C Balakrishna (Telengana) who were captive in Libya since 29 July 2015 have been rescued."

  • The teachers were abducted in July 2015 along with their two other colleagues Laxmikant Ramakrishna and Mulbagil Vijay Kumar from Bengaluru.
  • Both the colleagues were rescued within the week of their kidnapping.
  • All of them worked at the University of Sirte in the Northern Libya.
  • They were abducted at the checkpoint which was around 50 kms away from Sirte.
  • Gopalakrishna is a resident of Andhra Pradesh while Balramkishan belongs to Telengana.
