Surinder Koli awarded death penalty in 7th Nithari case
New Delhi: A CBI court on Friday sentenced Surinder Koli to death in the seventh case related to Noida's high-profile Nithari serial killing.
The special court judge Pawan Kumar Tiwari had convicted Koli in the last hearing of the case.
Koli has been awarded death penalty after being found guilty of kidnapping an 11-year-old girl, killing and then raping her.
CBI's senior public prosecutor JP Sharma has claimed that this is the first such case in history of India where a single person has been awarded death penalty in seven different cases. Nine other cases related to Nithari serial killing are still pending in the court.
Koli claimed after the court's verdict that he didn't sign the paper of his death sentence because the court didn't hear his pleas.
