Understanding the Supreme Court Verdict on Article 370

New Delhi: The Supreme Court has fixed July 31, 2021 as the deadline for implementing the 'One Nation One Ration Card' scheme. Under this scheme, migrant laborers will get the facility to take ration in any part of the country. The Supreme Court has also given many other orders for the benefit and welfare of migrant laborers.

One Nation One Ration Card:

Let us inform that today the Supreme Court has issued several guidelines to the Central and State Governments regarding the welfare of migrant workers due to Corona. The court directed the state governments to provide dry ration for the migrant workers and to continue with the community kitchens till the pandemic continues. Along with this, the court said that after completing the work of National Data Grid Portal, the registration of workers in the unorganized sector should be completed by July 31.

Free Ration for Migrant workers:

The Supreme Court on Tuesday, on a petition seeking directions to the Center and states to ensure food security, cash transfers and other welfare measures for the migrant workers who were again badly affected by the restrictions imposed during the second wave of Corona. Judgment has been given.

A bench of Justices Ashok Bhushan and MR Shah had on June 11 reserved its order on the petitions of activists Anjali Bhardwaj, Harsh Mander and Jagdeep Chhokar in this regard. A fresh petition in this regard was filed in the pending suo motu case of 2020.

The top court had taken cognizance of the problems and hardships of migrant workers in May last year and issued several directions. Reserving its order, the bench had asked the Center and Union Territories to implement the One Nation, One Ration Card scheme so that migrant workers can get ration at their places of work in other states.
