Sunita Kejriwal Takes the Political Stage: A New Power Player Emerges Amidst Delhis Turmoil

New Delhi: The political atmosphere has heated up since the arrest of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in the Delhi liquor scam. Kejriwal has been sent to Tihar Jail until April 15, and now there are speculations about the arrest of other party leaders by AAP. In such an environment, Arvind Kejriwal's wife, Sunitha Kejriwal, is emerging as a prominent figure in full action. Sunitha Kejriwal, who has so far kept herself away from Delhi and Aam Aadmi Party politics, is being seen in this new role.

It is noteworthy that claims are being made by several party leaders that in the situation of Arvind Kejriwal resigning, Sunitha Kejriwal could take command as the Chief Minister. On Tuesday, Sunitha Kejriwal held a meeting with party legislators and discussed the current political situation in Delhi.

During this meeting, she stated that Kejriwal should not resign and the government should be run from jail. On the other hand, claims are being made by the BJP that internal struggle has begun within AAP regarding the power in Delhi.

Sunitha's Open Advocacy in the Political Arena

To raise voices against the arrest of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, opposition leaders recently gathered at Delhi's Ramleela Maidan. Leaders of various parties included in the India Alliance made sharp attacks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP during this rally. Sunitha Kejriwal also showed a strong stance during this rally. She said that Modi ji should remember that they will not be able to keep the beloved Kejriwal in jail for long. She stated that your Kejriwal is a lion and resides in the hearts of millions of people in the country.

However, even before this rally, Sunitha Kejriwal had increased her activity and had communicated her and Kejriwal's message among people through video messages. Now, she is seen openly advocating in the political arena.

Deliberations on AAP's Strategy in Delhi

Her new style of political activism was displayed on Tuesday when she deeply discussed AAP's strategy in Delhi with the party's top leaders and legislators. Many prominent faces of AAP in Delhi, including Atishi, Saurabh Bharadwaj, Kailash Gehlot, Gopal Rai, Durgesh Pathak, Prahlad Sahni, BS Joon, Rajesh Gupta, Rajkumar Anand, Dilip Pandey, Pramila Tokas, Rajkumari Dhillon, and Imran Hussain, attended the meeting.

AAP has a significant majority in the Delhi Legislative Assembly, and hence, there is no perceived threat to the government. AAP has 62 out of 70 MLAs in the Delhi Legislative Assembly, while BJP has the strength of eight MLAs.

Meeting with 55 Legislators

It is reported that Sunitha Kejriwal met with 55 legislators of AAP. Apart from Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia and Satyendar Jain are imprisoned in Tihar Jail, while four legislators are said to be out of Delhi. In such a situation, AAP legislators are still united. During the meeting with legislators, Sunitha Kejriwal reportedly said that the support of Delhi's two crore people is fully with Kejriwal, and hence, he should not resign from the position of Chief Minister. She believes that he should run the Delhi government from Tihar Jail.

Efforts to Strengthen the Party

After the meeting with legislators, Delhi's Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj stated that she can convey a message to the Chief Minister from the party and deliver her message. Bharadwaj said that they have told Sunitha Kejriwal to convey a message to the Chief Minister that Arvind Kejriwal was, is, and will continue to be our Chief Minister. This meeting took place at a time when there are speculations about the arrest of many AAP leaders, including Atishi and Saurabh Bharadwaj.

It is also said that Sunitha Kejriwal is trying to strengthen her grip on the party by holding meetings with party legislators. If the situation arises where Kejriwal has to resign, she can take charge of the Delhi government. It is noteworthy that Delhi's Lieutenant Governor has said that he will not allow the government to run from jail.

BJP Takes Aim

Meanwhile, BJP has targeted the meeting between AAP legislators and Sunitha Kejriwal. Party spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia said that Kejriwal lacks even a bit of constitutional morality. He is so enamored with the Chief Minister's chair that he wants to run the government from behind bars.

Delhi BJP President, Virendra Sachdeva, said that Arvind Kejriwal, along with the entire AAP leadership, is involved in the Delhi liquor scam. As the investigation progresses, many more names of leaders are coming to light.

It is evident that internal struggle for power has begun within AAP. That's why no one within AAP trusts anyone else.
