Celebrating gangster Dawood's birthday lands few Mumbai men in Jail

Mumbai: Celebrating birthday of India's most wanted fugitive gangster, Dawood Ibrahim on December 26 landed a few Mumbai men in Jail.

The Mumbai Crime Branch cracked on them after one of them uploaded the celebratory pictures of the birthday bash of underworld don, Dawood on his social media account. However, the man had also tagged three others in the post which sent them behind the bars.

Mumbai Police officials are trying to find out if the person, who had posted the pictures on Facebook, and three others tagged in the post were in touch with Dawood.

The detainees are from the Dongri locality of Mumbai, once famous as the den of Dawood Ibrahim and his lieutenants.

One of the detainees, Shera Chikna had pictures of fugitive don Dawood Ibrahim's den on his Facebook wall. Chikna had posted photos with Dawood's pictures and the cake with his name and message which said "Happy Birthday Boss".

The crime branch got to know about the celebrations after photos of the birthday were shared on social media by Shera Chikna. The anti-extortion cell of Mumbai Police's crime branch detained Chikna for questioning him.

Crime branch officials, meanwhile, confirmed that inquiry is on regarding the posts. They are investigating if the detainees were in touch with Dawood Ibrahim.

It is to be mentioned that Dawood was declared as Global Terror Financer by the United States.

Talking about the detention, Joint commissioner of police, Mumbai Crime Branch, Santosh Rastogi said, "We are inquiring into the matter."

This incident has alerted Mumbai crime branch and now the concerned post is under probe to verify if any video call was made to Dawood or his aides in Karachi, Pakistan.
