JD-U-BJP alliance is unfortunate, says Sharad Yadav

Patna: The Rajya Sabha MP and leader of the Janata Dal (United) Sharad Yadav made controversial comments comparing the honour of daughters with the honour of votes while addressing the gathering of people in Patna on January 24.

In his sexist remark he said," Ballot paper ke bare me jankari ki samjh honi zaroori hai. Beti ki izzat jaegi, toh gaon or mohalle ki izzat jaegi. Aur vote ek bar bik gaya, or ek baar gadbad hogaya toh ilake ki, desh ki aabaroo or aane wala sapna kabhi poora nahi hoga which translates to if daughter’s honour is compromised, it only affects the village or community but if the vote’s honour is compromised, it impacts the entire nation”.

About Sharad Yadav:

  • He also served as a president of Janata Dal United.
  • JDU after alliance with RJD and Congress came to power in Bihar in 2015.
