Shame! Bihar school seizes uniform of sisters; forces them go home semi-naked

Patna: Bihar witnessed another disgustful incident when a private school seized the uniforms of two sisters forcing them to return home semi-naked.

The administration of the Begusarai-based school committed the crime on Friday because the sisters had failed to submit their fees on time. Taking cognizance of the incident, state's education minister Ashok Choudhary on Saturday ordered a probe into the matter.

The elder sister is aged 8, while the younger is aged 6. The sisters were the student of the BR Education Academy, Koria.

"We were asked to strip by Anjana ma'am when our father told her that he will pay the due fee the next day. At first we refused, but she insisted and forcefully took our clothes," a teary eyed elder sister told media persons.

The mother of the victims, Manisha, said, "When their father reached the school at dismissal time, the principal asked him to pay due fee of last two months. He said he will pay on Saturday. But the teacher took my daughters inside, striped their uniform and handed them back to their father only in their underclothes."

She added that the local Mukhiya's wife felt pity for them and gave a gamcha to to cover up their bodies. "My daughters are only crying and are not ready to eat anything," she said.

The family of the sisters lodged a case at the local police station against the school administration. Subsequently, the school's director NK Jha and teacher Anjana Kumari were arrested.

"We have taken the matter very seriously. A probe is underway, and we have also questioned the school administrators," said Begusarai superintendent RK Mishra.

Jha and Kumari, however, rubbished all the allegations. "My moral standard is not so low that I will ask my own students to go home semi-naked," Jha said, and called it a political conspiracy against him. In her defence, Kumari said, "I am a woman too. How can you think I will ask a girl to derobe and go home?"

Minister Choudhary told reporters, "What has come across through media reports highlights insensitivity of the school administrators. I have asked our officials to find out about the incident and take appropriate action in the matter."
