The Union Health Ministry said on Monday that more than 2.26 crore doses of vaccine against covid-19 have been given to people across the country.

New Delhi: Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader LK Advani conducted the first dose of corona vaccine at AIIMS Delhi. Advani, 93, was deputy prime minister in Atal Bihari Vajpayee's government from 2002 to 2004. In the second phase of corona vaccination, people above 60 years of age are being vaccinated.

Also, people over 45 years of age with serious illness are also being vaccinated. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also took the first dose of the vaccine at AIIMS on 1 March.

The Union Health Ministry said on Monday that more than 2.26 crore doses of vaccine against covid-19 have been given to people across the country.

The ministry said that a total of 16,96,588 doses were given till 9 pm on Monday. It has been 52 days since the vaccination campaign started against covid-19 in the country. Several leaders and central ministers of political parties, including President Ram Nath Kovind and Vice President Venkaiah Naidu, have taken the vaccine dose in the second phase.

Corona Vaccination in India:

Vaccination campaign started in the country with vaccination of health workers on 16 January. After the start of the second phase from March 1, there has been a considerable increase in vaccination in the country. According to data released by Bloomberg and Johns Hopkins University on Sunday, only 54 lakh people were vaccinated in India a month ago. After the second phase, the number of dosages per 100 people has increased from 0.41 to 1.56 per cent.

Corona vaccination of 2.26 crore people has been done under the nationwide vaccination campaign started from January 16. A total of 2,26,85,598 vaccine doses have been given in the country so far in the 52 days of vaccination program.
