15 coaches of Sealdah-Ajmer express derailed in Kanpur Dehat; 2 dead

Kanpur Dehat: At least two persons were feared dead and more than 50 were injured when 15 bogies of 12988 Sealdah-Ajmer express train derailed in Kanpur Dehat district of Uttar Pradesh.

According to the eye witnesses two causalities have taken place but the officials denied any such happening.

Accident occurred between Rura-Metha, 50 kms away from Kanpur, at around 0520 hours. Out of the derailed coaches at least 12 were of sleeper class.

Railway and district administration immediately deployed the rescue and relief teams. All doctors who were on leave have been asked to join their duties back.

District Magistrate of Kanpur Dehat,Kumar Ravikant said, "Passengers were being rescued and alternate arrangements were being made for those who want to continue with their journey."

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has announced ex-gratia of Rs 25,000 to those who sustained injuries while Rs 50,000 will be given to the severely injured.
