New Delhi: Retired IPS K Vijay Kumar, who is known for efficiently executing the encounter of very famous dacoit Veerappan, has been given the charge to avenge the martyrdom of 26 CRPF officials in Sukma region of Chhattisgarh, said the sources on Sunday.

He has already reached the district and is currently holding meetings with the officials including Bastar IG Vivekanand Sinha, SP and few members of his own team, the sources added. The meeting is aimed at collecting information regarding the Maoist attack, their associates, logistics and communication system.

In the next two days, Vijay Kumar will create a technical team, intelligence wing, local intelligence and dog squads. As per the sources, his first aim would be to crack down their logistic and communication system before going for the final attack.

The sources have further claimed that Kumar have been given freehand to deal with the Naxals while National Security Advisor Ajit Doval would be the mastermind of the operation.

It may be mentioned here that K Vijay Kumar has also served as DG CRPF during his service.
