Mumbai: Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani, at the 40th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of RIL, launched its 4G phone which is named as 'JioPhone'.

Buyers will have to deposit an amount of Rs 1500 at the time of purchasing which will be refundable after three years on returning the phone. So, this means that the phone costs Rs Zero to the customers.

At the AGM, that took place at Birla Matushri Sabhagar in Mumbai, Mukesh Ambani said, "RIL's market cap has grown from Rs. 10 crore in 1977 to over Rs. 5 lakh crore now. Team Jio has stunned the world, over delivering on “the 100 million target I had set for them."

About JioPhone:

  • The phone will be available for beta testing on August 15.
  • The pre-booking for the smartphone will be done from August 24. Finally, the phone will be available from September, 2017.
  • The phone will support 22 languages.
  • The phone is termed as 'India Ka Smartphone'.
  • The model has Jio Cinema, Jio Music in-built.

The smartphone will also have:

  • Alpha numeric keypad
  • 2.4 inch QVGA display
  • FM radio
  • Torch light
  • Headphone jack
  • SD card slot
  • Four way navigation system
  • Phone Contact
  • Call History
  • Jio Apps

What else Mukesh Ambani said?
