Jaipur: The Congress party on Thursday has come out victorious in Rajasthan's Ramgarh Assembly seat, with a margin of 12,228 votes as its candidate Shafia Zuber won 83,311 votes, a poll official said.

The results of this assembly election are likely to be read as an important indicator ahead of the Lok Sabha election due by May.

It is to be mentioned that Bahujan Samajwadi Party (BSP) candidate Laxman Singh died few days ahead of the polling on December 7, due to which reason election to the constituency could not be held along with other seats.

In the December 7 elections, which were held on 199 out of 200 seats, Congress won 99 seats and one of its alliance partners- RLD- won one seat and the Congress formed government.

The assembly elections of Ramgarh and bypoll in Haryana’s Jind will decide the fate of political parties in the national elections and will surely determine the current mood of the nation.
