Railways to provide 10 per cent rebate on vacant train births

New Delhi: The Indian Railways will provide a 10 per cent rebate on vacant berths in Mail/Express trains from January 1, announced the railway ministry through an official notification on Thursday.

The passengers will be allowed to take advantage of the rebate after the finalisation of reservation charts.

The passengers will be allowed to avail 10 per cent rebate in the basic fare on booking the vacant berths in all reserved categories which include AC and Sleeper classes, added the railway notification.

The 10 per cent rebate will be applied only on the basic fare while the other charges like reservation and super fast will be levied as per the set rules.

The railway ministry has introduced the scheme for six months starting from January 1, 2017.
