New Delhi: Taking the moral responsibility of recent rail accidents, Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and offered to resign from his post.

According to the ministry sources, Prabhu, who offered his resignation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday, however, has been asked to wait for sometime by the Prime Minister.

The railway minister also shared his pain and disappointment on his twitter handle and indicated about the step of quitting he has taken.

Stating that he has devoted his sweat and blood, working for the Indian Railways, Prabhu said, "Under leadership of PM, tried 2 overcome decades of neglect thru systemic reforms in all areas leading 2 unprecedented investment and milestones."

This resignation came soon after the Railway Board chairman AK Mittal submitted his resignation.

It is worth mentioning that two major derailments took place killing hundreds and injuring over a large number of people in week.
