‘Pune’s ‘gold shirt’ man stoned to death, four arrested

Pune: A man named Dattatray Phuge, who had made a Rs. 1.27 crore shirt of gold, was stoned to death on Friday in the presence of his son.

Four accused has been arrested by the police, which also includes Phuge’s nephew.

Presuming financial troubles as the reason behind the death, police is investigating on the case.

Dighi police station inspector Navnath Ghogare said-

  • Phuge and his son were invited by one of the suspects to celebrate a birthday.
  • However we are investigating how Phuge reached the ground.

Phuge’s wife Seema informed that few unknown people on late Thursday night came home and tried to accompany his husband unwillingly.

“After taking my husband to Bharatmata nagar in Dighi, they attacked him with stones and sharp weapons,” said Phuge’s wife Seema.

44-year old Phuge, however, had a criminal background, said police officials.
