Mylab Discovery Solution antigen kit gets approval from ICMR

Pune: Pune's Mylab Discovery Solution said on Wednesday that the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has approved its Corona Antigen Testing Kit. The company has named it 'Pathocatch covid-19 Antigen Rapid Testing Kit'. It has been developed and produced entirely in India. It is priced at Rs 450, it is also available according to the demand. The company had earlier released the RT-PCR test kit.

ICMR approval to Indian antigen:

'Mylab team is working really hard to fight this pandemic in every possible way. After bringing an affordable RT-PCR test to reduce dependence on foreign kits, we launched Compact XL to accelerate Covid-19 testing. Now, with the approval for an antigen testing kit, we will cover whole spectrum of Covid-19 testing and leave no stone unturned to fight this pandemic,' said Hasmukh Rawal, Mylab Discovery Solutions.

Rapid antigen test takes less time than RRT-PCR, as it takes about five hours for RRT-PCR testing, whereas it only takes 30 minutes. Laboratory is not required for antigen test, whereas laboratory is required for RRT-PCR testing.

Antigen-based testing is being used to enhance the country's overall testing capacity and treat patients, along with RRT-PCR.
