Priyanka Gandhi intervenes for Congress-Samajwadi Party alliance

Lucknow: Priyanka Gandhi is trying to play the role of a bridge when the alliance talk between the Congress and the Samajwadi Party is laying in midstream following the seat distribution issue for the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections 2017.

According to the sources, Priyanka has sent her personal emissary to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav for talks over the alliance.

It has also been reported that Congress leader in Rajya Sabha, Ghulam Nabi Azad may come to the state capital ion Saturday. If everything goes well, it is expected that the alliance may be announced today.

Priyanka Gandhi has jumped in to salvage the situation after the Samajwadi Party released the lists of 209 candidates for the UP elections. The list also comprised the seats held by Congress, including Amethi and Rae Bareli, which clearly are the no-go places for SP if alliance happens.

According to the SP sources, currently Priyanka's emissary, Dheeraj, is lodged in a city hotel where he is waiting for a call from Akhilesh Yadav.

Congress leaders have accepted Priyanka's activeness in the UP politics but did not say anything on the emissary.

The uncertainty over the alliance mounted as Congress has admitted that the talks have hot a roadblock and has also blamed Akhilesh for going back on his promise.
