Prime Minister Narendra Modi greets nation on Dhanteras

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday greeted the nation on the occasion of Dhanteras and wished everyone good health and prosperity.

"Dhanteras greetings to everyone," the Prime Minister tweeted. "May this day bring happiness, good health and prosperity in everyone's lives," he said.

‘Dhan’ in Hindi means wealth, and ‘Teras’ means number 13th. Also known as Dhantrayodashi or Dhanvantari Trayodashi, Dhanteras is, accordingly, derived to mean the day devoted to wealth that falls on the 13th day of the Krishna Paksha (waning moon period) in the Hindu calendar month of Ashwin.

Vrishabha Kaal — 7:19pm to 9:14pm

Trayodashi Tithi Ends — 12:08 am (midnight) on October 18
