New Delhi: President Pranab Mukherjee came down heavily on opposition parties on Thursday stating that the deadlock over demonetisation has led to wastage of 14 days of the Winter Session of the Parliament.

The President while speaking on electoral reforms at the Defence Research and Development Organisation said that the daily disruption of parliament was 'not acceptable at all'.

The President said, "Parliament is a place to debate. No MP has the right to disrupt the house. For God's Sake, please do your job... You are meant to transact Parliament business; not to disrupt it."

Meanwhile, Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan also warned the opposition members of 'harsh steps' if they did not stop protesting and disrupting others who were speaking.

It may be mentioned that both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha have failed to transact any substantive business because of the continuous din that led to repeated adjournments of the two Houses.
