Polling begins in 70 constituencies in the only phase in Uttarakhand

Dehradun: A percentage of 68 was recorded as the total voter turnout in Uttarakhand till 1700 hours. The only phase of polling for the state assembly election in 70 constituencies, spread over 13 districts started amid tight security arrangements at 7.00 hours on Wednesday.

A total over 74.20 lakh electorates may exercise their franchise in the only phase of Uttarakhand elections to decide the fate of 628 candidates.

There will be a major competition between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress as both are contesting for maximum seats.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has urged the people of Uttarakhand to turn up in large numbers.
