New Delhi: Keeping aside the protocol, Prime Minister Narendra Modi went to Delhi airport to receive his Bangladesh Counterpart Sheikh Hasina.

PM Modi travelled from Lok Kalyan Marg to Delhi Airport in normal traffic. There were no restrictions within the route covered by him. He was accompanied only by his driver and SPG (Special Protection Group) officer.

Sheikh Hasina is on her first bilateral visit to India in her current term as Bangladesh PM.

  • Hasina is on four-day visit to India.
  • She will hold talks with PM Modi on Saturday.
  • Issues like combating terrorism, enhancing security cooperation can be discussed between the both.
  • Both the countries are likely to sign agreements for bilateral trade, investment and cooperation in the energy sector as well as better security along the border between both the nations.
  • She would also meet President Pranab Mukherjee and opposition leader Sonia Gandhi.
  • Hasina will also visit Ajmer to offer prayers on Sunday and would hold meeting with Indian Business leaders on April 10.
  • She will also mark her presence in a function at Manekshaw Centre to honour Indian Armed Forces members who embraced martyrdom in Bangladesh's War of Liberation in 1971.
  • The visit of Bangladeshi PM comes after a gap of seven years.
