New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday welcomed the President of France, Francois Hollande, who landed in Chadigarh for his three-days visit to India.

Hollande is the Chief Guest of 66th Republic Day of India and it is the fifth time a French President has been invited as the Chief Guest on Republic Day.

In his tweet Modi mentioned,"A warm welcome to French President @fhollande. We are honoured & delighted to have him as the Chief Guest for Republic Day celebrations."

He also tweeted that he will meet him in Chandigarh and Delhi and would build on the ground covered during previous interactions.

It is not the first meeting of Prime Minister with the French President as earlier Modi visited France twice after assuming the post. Modi had also met Hollande in the UN Climate Summit-2015 which was hosted by France in November last.
