PM Modi launches e-RUPI digital payment solution

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today launched digital payment solution e-Rupi (e-RUPI). Prime Minister Modi launched it through video conferencing at 4.30 pm on 2 August 2021. E-Rupee is a prepaid e-voucher developed by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI). Through this there will be cashless and contactless payment.

E-Rupi is a QR code or SMS string-based e-voucher, which is delivered to the beneficiary's mobile.

Users of this one time payment mechanism will be able to redeem the voucher at the service provider without having to access the card, digital payment app or internet banking.

PM Modi said after launching e-Rupee that it is in a way Person as well as Purpose Specific. E-rupee will ensure that the purpose for which any help is being given will be used for that.

Also said that e-rupee voucher is going to play a big role in making digital transactions effective in the country, direct to bank transfer scheme. This will go a long way in providing targeted, transparent and leakage free delivery to all. At present, it is being linked to health services only.

Now, if a person wants to get the vaccination done by paying, then he will get the facility of cashless and contactless transaction through e-Rupee. Later it can also be used to pay for other health services. He said that corruption has been curbed due to digital payments in the country. Along with this, the beneficiaries have got the benefits of the schemes without any hassle.

Prime Minister Modi said that earlier in our country some people used to say that technology is only for the rich, India is a poor country, so what is the use of technology for India? When our government used to talk about making technology a mission, many politicians, certain types of experts used to question it.
