PM Modi condoles death in Utkal Express derailment

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday condoled the death of people caused by the derailment of Utkal Express in Uttar Pradesh's Muzaffarnagar district.

"Extremely pained by the derailment of the Utkal Express in Muzaffarnagar. My thoughts are with the families of the deceased," he said in a tweet.

He wished the injured a speedy recovery and said that the entire situation is being monitored by the Railway Ministry.

"Railways Ministry and UP Government are doing everything possible & providing all assistance required in the wake of the train derailment," said Modi in another tweet.

At least 23 people killed and 400 were injured after 14 coaches of the Utkal Express derailed near Khatauli in Muzzafarnagar at 5.46 p.m.
